The short version. No account. No ads. No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Your bowel movement records are stored in a database on your phone, and we never receive them. Our servers receive exactly two things, both described in full below: anonymous usage events (such as “a record was saved” — never what was in it), and feedback messages you choose to send us.
Everything you log — times, Bristol types, symptoms, straining, notes — is stored in a local database on your phone. It is not uploaded, synced, or backed up to any server of ours. We have no copy.
Backups and exports are files you keep. When you tap Back up now or Export, the app creates a file on your phone and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there — Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, email — is your choice and happens under that service’s terms, not ours. We never receive the file.
Deleting the app deletes the on-device database. Entries you delete in the app are kept locally for up to 30 days so you can undo, then permanently removed.
We run a single small service (on Cloudflare’s infrastructure) for two purposes. There are no other network calls in the app.
To learn which features are used, the app sends events from this fixed list — and nothing else:

Events never contain the contents of your records — no times, no types, no symptoms, no notes. The event says a record was saved; what you recorded stays on your phone. Our server rejects anything not on the whitelist.
The in-app feedback form (Settings → Send feedback) sends what the form shows you:

Nothing is sent until you tap Send. The form asks you not to include personal health details in your message; please don’t.
The two data flows above are stored with Cloudflare, Inc. (our infrastructure provider) in its capacity as a processor. No other company processes this data.
Poop Tales is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If a future version changes what leaves your device — for example, optional cloud sync — we will update this policy and the in-app disclosures before that version ships, and the App Store privacy labels with it.
